Pressing Sunflower Seeds for the Oils
Does anyone have experience pressing sunflower seeds to extract the oils? I'm wondering what kinds of methods there are and how it's worked out for you and how much it matters how big or "meaty" the individual seeds are. We had a bunch of volunteer sunflowers pop up in the back yard this year and let them have their way. Just yesterday it occurred to me that it might be worth trying to turn them into something that's not just pleasing to look at, though they are rather pretty. I especially enjoyed taking slo-mo videos of the bees that tend to love them so much. Heck, mo' flowers, mo' bees, mo' better.

Re: Pressing Sunflower Seeds for the Oils
i wonder if one might find a small hand held press on the cheap, maybe antique. the homeslice at the farmers market has an old one hooked to a 12 v motor and battery to make wheat grass juice . i ll have to research this one a bit

ya there is quite a selection of hand cranks as well as electric presses that could do a job like seeds. the interwebs is saying it equates to 4-5 kg of seeds per liter of oil and so forth
